The Fragrance of Christ

Certainly this blog is about my Faith, my hope, my fears and my passions. It is about my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, my redeemer, my savior and my friend. It is about my hope in Christ Jesus who is coming soon for his people.

My faith cannot be challenged and it will never fade away. But I do have fears too. It is nothing other than the slow ebbing of the presence of God in the lives of people. It is about the compromise Christians make, without fear, about things they are supposed to uphold.

The foundations of Christianity are laid by the true and unchallenged faith in Christ and the word of God, hard work and precious lives of many thousands. In this century the word of God is diluted and twisted day by day for convenience and personal benefit, cheap grace made available instead of the costly one, spending time and money on god particle than God himself.

People are working frantically to prove there is no God rather than knowing God.

But when we hesitate to ‘offend others’ by spreading the fragrance of Christ I fear the foundations begin to crumble. The question is are passive and are our passion for Christ fading away?

I still remember the day when the towers crumbled down and we watched helplessly. The enemy uses every opportunity to destroy us and if we are not watchful and we will be helpless when the foundations crumble.

The purpose of Christ on this earth was to fulfill the wish of his father. He cared for the well being of everyone around him. He cared those who are hungry, thirsty, and sick and those needed comfort. He cared people who were not wonderful, acceptable, and honorable in the society.

His life was a fragrance.

That is why thousand followed him wherever he went. Many were not so serious about eternity, maybe it was because of their hunger or their sickness, or it could be something else, but they knew there is a fragrance in following him.

They may not have agreed with everything he said, but they followed the fragrance. Jesus never rebuked them just because they did not believe in him. He never cast them away.

The fragrance of his life attracted many and still the fragrance is lingering around you and me.

Many are so attracted, so mesmerized by this fragrance and in order to enter through the narrow gate and walk the narrow road, threw away many things which are attractive to them, close to them, things they thought are useful and valuable, ways they thought are logical, actions they thought are sensible, emotions they thought are proper and love they thought their passion, in order to follow this fragrance.

Jesus never looked down on them; instead he called them sons and daughters and poured out the fragrance of grace into their lives. He cared only the heart and its willingness.

I think I should add a few more sentences to that because it really humbles me. This fragrance was poured out into this earthen vessel and he molded it not because it was the best, the cleanest or the brightest to pour that love but on the other hand it was dirty beyond imagination. But he chose this frail pot and said that’s fine, and decided to work on it.

He said Zacheus come down, I can make you, mold you. The presence of that fragrance in his home made Zacheus a different man and without any prompt, he said Lord make me and mold me.

This fragrance is being poured out into our life and the Bible says, we in his absence are those who should diffuse this fragrance of Christ in every hearts, in every place.

“For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing”. The father sent his son into this world as a fragrance. He our redeemer, friend said I am putting you in my place; be my fragrance. Our forefathers, our grand fathers, our fathers were living fragrances.

Like Apostle Paul they said follow us. Someone outside there says there is no God, ridicules his name, questions his existence. How much compromised are we in our comfort?

Every single day this fragrance is being attacked. Where did our passion go? Our pots may be shining well but no fragrance is being poured out.

It should be our joy in spreading this fragrance everyday of our life.

If we decide to pour out this fragrance, it is the widow’s pot; it will never stop until there are empty pots out there.

Our life is short and our duty is to come spread and go. Let’s be his fragrance.

Have we become so selfish these days? Let’s not hold it back. Our fears should not overwhelm us and take away our enthusiasm.

It is time for us to stand up. Whether in our job, church, home or society, let the fragrance flow from us so that somebody around is attracted, attracted to Christ.

Lack of fragrance simply means lack of commitment in reaching the lost.

The knowledge God itself is a pleasant sacrifice. We need submission, humbleness, and humility in our life. It is not our outward appearance but the fragrance that flows from us which brings people closer to God, matters.

I wish and pray that every post in this blog spread that fragrance to anyone and everyone who takes a moment to read them. God bless you all.
